MISCUES CAUSED JET CRASH PILOT, CO-PILOT LOSE LICENSES.(Main)

Federal investigators said Friday night that a series of miscues by a relatively inexperienced cockpit crew had led to the aborted takeoff of a USAir jetliner that crashed into the East River at New York's LaGuardia Airport on Wednesday night, killing two passengers.

The investigators said the co-pilot, on his first takeoff on a USAir aircraft, had pushed the wrong button on a set of computerized power controls that govern the thrust of the engines.
